I really a lot this morning

last week's meeting. We were actually

kind of busy while we had few pursuits.

I just wanted to point out one uh that

took place out at 42 and 70 from a large

step retail store out there pursuit

and uh our deputy

successfully

used

and we

found him into custody had another one

of the vehicle with very minimal damage

far maybe just bucking out things. So,

uh,

did a good job. Did a very did a good

job. We're able to get that push into

custody and get discouraged that

prosecutors can handle from here. Um,

other than that, I really didn't have

any items of business for the sheriff's

office and there's one item of business

that uh that is not here this morning.

will go through. So the revolution

process where the need a little bit of

money to help sustain EMA for a couple

months grants come in. It's not new. We

usually face this about every two to

three years depending on the monies and

want to implement a u eyeball program

that uh gives notification. I know we

have our apps that we send out. Those

are all by participation. balls will be

able to for us to to send out

notifications

on you guys were to have some questions

on our

this morning if you had any question on

the program was in there but like I said

we still need we do grant coming in but

we need a little bit of money to get

this through receipt um other than that

>> I just had one small update I wanted to

share.

Uh the office um to the left immediately

upon entering the prosecutor's office

has traditionally been the victim

advocates office and we've kind of

rethought the space trying to be more

efficient, use the space within the

office and we used the furniture in that

office and replaced furniture upstairs

in some of the attorney's office off

offices that were outdated. Um those are

reused in other departments. We're going

to try to use the space downstairs um as

more of a work area and meeting area

with victims. Really limited on work

space and um conference room space. Uh

there will be a a work area for victim

advocate there. We also have a small

area upstairs privacy, get on the phone,

that kind of thing. We're going to put a

table in the middle of the office with a

couple chairs around it. um have some

lateral files for the storage of um the

victim files in that office. Like I

said, a corner desk and hutch area. So,

we're hoping to be able to utilize space

a little better than we have. Um I

worked with Ritter's Office Outfitters.

Uh we did get a quote um well within our

budget. I'm not asking for any funds. Um

I just wanted you to know that that's uh

what we're working on and moving forward

with. It's about we're just shy of

$5,000 worth of furniture and upgrades.

Um already submitted the PO to Ros.

I'm a firm believer in surrounding

yourself with good people and especially

ones that are smarter than you. So, um,

one thing that we could

this topic say around 56, the bridge

closure

uh that was sprung up on us there a few

weeks ago. high water has impacted that

work per so no surprise there. Um

I'm hearing we're still coming

on that. So I just want to update your

board. Uh the work they're doing is down

in the it's around the peers down in the

in the channel. Um started some

excavation

and then you know we we got some recent

rain in that time as well. So just won't

take you right now that's impacting.

So

Ken is in this morning um he's got a

conservation [ __ ] to discuss and um I'm

sure there might be some other fish

related questions.

>> Um ditch. This is a conservation ditch.

I know uh a couple years ago we came in

with a conservation ditch as well. This

is uh called the Galworth ditch. It's

off of uh Dyer Road kind of right near

where Dire crosses 71. Um originally the

project was going to be about 5,000 ft,

but it kind of got shrunk down. It's

only about 8 $1,800 ft. Um the total

cost is around $860,000.

Um, it's kind of like the last one. The

funds have to be encumbered and paid out

and then once the project's done, we get

the current money back to be repaid.

This is probably

the application. I submitted it

yesterday. So, this project's probably

not going to be done for probably, you

know, completion probably two years out.

So, we still we got a lot of time.

So, we just have to do I think they the

turnar around time they'll let us know

if it's approved and think about a

month. They usually try to get the back

to us pretty quickly as far as

>> the programs through H2

Ohio.

Um, this one is the Department of

There's one that runs through the EPA as

well and this one's run through the

Department of Agriculture

and I know part of the application pro

part of the application is you know the

commissioner there's a couple forms that

the commissioners need to sign to verify

funds and everything. So that's

something that um can you know if you

have questions or can discuss and

figure out which direction one thing

this program

this ditch is already on maintenance

>> part yes part of this ditch is on

maintenance. It's an open ditch and then

there's a section of it that's a

waterway. That waterway is in pretty bad

shape and so the property owners said

they'd like to make that as an open

ditch. since the fund would be

available. So that would be it would

still be put on maintenance at the end

of it all but part of it is already on

county maintenance.

>> And one unique thing is this program

property owners have to be in agreement

with the correct ditch being constructed

on their on their property. So that's

important to know.

So this application is just for the

ditch that's already on maintenance or

is this for? No,

>> this is for constructing a new a new

ditch. The the existing ditch happen it

happens to be on current county

maintenance, but they' just be improving

the ditch.

>> This and this section is it's currently

a water tile.

>> Yes.

>> It would be converting to a from a

waterway tile to avation.

And excuse me, Brian, you mentioned the

the H2O grant program. So that's

different from this, but are we are we

applying for dollars through that

program, too?

>> Yeah, that's what this is.

>> That's what A6

>> the ditch is already on maintenance.

However, the improvement to the

conservation ditch would be paying for

the H2.

Correct.

Part of their requirement is it either

has to be a ditch on maintenance or they

want that once the project's completed

put on county maintenance. So that way

the the funds, you know, it's protected

for forever through the maintenance

program.

>> But there won't be any funds available

for this maintenance program to do

improvement of this assume. So that's

>> So then ask do we do we kind of ask for

them? I guess that was the that was the

hope is to ask for your approval to to

sign, you know, sign the agreement to

encumber the encumber the clients for

make sense.

>> Then another quick followup from for you

for Matt Teters had said that he sent me

an application for the this same program

for his ditch. That's I didn't really

consider that too much because like

Brian was saying it has to be 100%

participation.

So, I kind of talked to the downstream

property owners and I got the feeling

that they would not be on board with

with doing that cuz it can take out a

pretty good chunk of land and you know

with one of the properties is annexing

the West Jeff. So, they're not going to

be availing

that. So, we'll have to go, you know,

keep going through the petition process

and we'll try to I think we have the

hearing is in two weeks. So, we'll

try to have some something for him, some

options. And it might be such a thing

that as we go through the hearing

process, you know,

the consation would be applied for

renovating type thing. Yeah. As we

out. What kind of improvement

that

Jones. The contract went to the state of

Ohio. They did not want their name on

it. They wanted the contract to be

specifically from Rachel and us. So, we

advised the lease agreement, took out

Ohio BMD, and it's ready for the signal.

And then a proclamation for men's

health.

>> Yes, that'll be hell freezes over.

>> Whereas the health and well-being of men

and boys are vital to strong families,

productive workplaces, and thriving

communities. And whereas men's health

month is observed each June to raise

awareness of preventable health

conditions and encourage men and boys to

pri prioritize preventative care,

healthy lifestyles, and regular health

screenings. And whereas many serious

health conditions affecting men can be

prevented or better managed through

early detection, physical activity,

proper nutrition, and attention to

mental health. And whereas National Wear

Blue Day serves as a visible reminder of

the importance of men's health awareness

and residents are encouraged to wear

blue on Friday, June 19, 2026 to show

their support for men's health and

wellness. Now therefore, be it

proclaimed by the board of county

commissioners in Madison County, Ohio,

that we do hereby recognize June 2026 as

Men's Health Month, and encourage all

citizens to support efforts that promote

healthy lifestyles, preventative

healthcare,

increased awareness of men's health

issues.
